the Party has become distorted. Attempts by Mr. Dukakis to overcome this impression have, for the most part, backfired.
At present I have reached a political impasse. I can sense no place to go. It is said in this election year that many voters are “apathetic,” “undecided,” “not firmly committed.” I believe that many sense, as I do, what has happened to the Democratic Party.
I also believe that many sense, as I do, that beneath the level of Republican Party principles, as set forth by John Marocchi, the Republican Party is held together by having become little more than an opposition to “Democratic liberalism” and that there has been little distinction made between the many principles of liberalism to be found in our founding documents and license masquerading as liberalism.
I have finally made a decision that will have little broad political appeal. I can no longer identify with either policital party. I can no longer even vote for one party as the least objectionable of the two. I have come to distrust both parties.
