oy this 1 certainly dont mean that .1 distrust people, as people comprising either party, for all political parties are merely political abstractions. I have come to distrust the kind of political abstraction that our dominant parties have become. The world is full of chaos caused by misguided political abstractions.
The present apathy and indecision are signs of the times and sure indications that the country needs a new political party. I think we need a parity embracing the horsesense of true conservatism and the compassion of true liberalism. I want no part of nationalism confused wtih true patriotism nor do I want any part with permissiveness confused with true liberalism.
So I shall follow the suggestion made in the Rappahannock News editorial of Oct. 27 and vote for “Electoral Reform.” And I thank the newpaper for a suggestion that will enable me to cast, on Nov. 8, a vote more meaningful (to politicians, at least) than mere abstention, which is, sadly, also a manner of voting.
