Asked when the acquisition process will begin, Mr. Coppedge said "I look for the authority (from the state engineer) anytime." Reminded that only eight months remain before construction is scheduled to begin on the first leg of the project, the rightof-way chief replied, “I can assure you that we will work to that schedule.”
According to Mr. Redmond, the approval granted by the Transportation Board means that -the final design and location decisions for the dual-laned road have been made and approved. “They can make small changes, move a piece to avoid disturbing a particular area, but this is basically the final design.”
