Russian photography exhibit

Russian photographer Edik Gladkov will hold the first exhibit of his “Faces of Russia” at the Middle St. Gallery from June 25 until July 2. There will be an opening Sunday, June 25 from 3-6 p.m. and Mr. Gladkov will give an informal talk at 4:30 p.m. Mr. Gladkov was once Solzhenitsyn’s official photographer and is now working on a lengthy free-lance project to document his native Moscow and his wife’s home village of Edin. He has contributed work to the gallery’s "Gallery Artists and h riends’ show each year and is an honorary member of the Middle St. Gallery.

Baseball Trophy Day set

The Amissville Baseball League will hold a picnic and “Trophy Day on July 23. Awards will be presented as well as a drawing for an autographed Redskins’ football donated by Rick Hunt Ford and a Redskins’ jacket donated by Rankin’s Sporting Goods. Winners need not be present. The kids are now selling tickets for $1; contest will last until July 23. The community is invited to visit Stuart Field evenings and Saturdays to support the teams and share in the excitement. Benefit bake sale

There will be a bake sale on Saturday, June 24 beginning at 1 p.m. at the home of Bessie Grigsby, Rt. 211, west of Washington. Proceeds will benefit the Wayland Blue Ridge Ministers’ Wives and Alliance. Sponsors for the event are Edith Bridget and Bessie Grigsby.

Transit van route hearing

The Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, July 12, 1989 .at 1 p.m. to seek input and comments on a proposed re-routing of CSC Transit van routes within PD 9. This hearing will be conducted at the Center’s offices at 401 South Main Street, Culpeper.

Child Development course

The Rappahannock Education Action Pmject (REAP) is offering a three-credit Child Development course through Lord Fairfax Community college this summer. The class will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 9 p.m. beginning July 5 at the Child Care and Learning Center. Dr. Oran Stewart of Shenandoah College will be the instructor. Tuition is $80. Registration will be July 5. Call 675-3267 for information. The class will meet for eight weeks. There will be a REAP meeting in July (date to be announced) to plan a Fall schedule of classes.

Indian crafts

Troquois Festival wall be held June 24 and 25 from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. at The Trading Post, just west of Washington. Vension steak cooked by the Shenandoah family will be for sale.
