Connie and Thomas Owens are the proud parents of a baby girl, Anna Victoria, born on May 30 at Fairfax Hospital. She weighed nine pounds, seven and one-half ounces and was 20 1/2 inches long. Brother Tommy, 3, was excited about his baby sister.
Maternal grandparents are Robert and Linda Smith of Sperryville. Paternal grandparents are Elsie and Edwin Owens of Silver Spring, Maryland.
Band concert
in Front Royal
The Front Royal-Warren County Community Band will present a free public concert at the Warren County Court House Lawn on Friday, June 23, at 7:30 p.m. Bring lawn chairs and the entire family for an enjoyable evening, a band spokesman said.
The concert, the fourth in the band’s Summer Concert Series, will feature a wide array of light concert, marches and show tunes.
The community band is sponsored by the Giles B. Cook Post No. 53 of the American Legion. Other concerts are scheduled for July 3 and July 21. The July 3rd concert, at the 4-H Center, will be complete with a fantastic display of fireworks. Last year more than 1,700 people attended.
The community band is looking for additional members. Local residents who play, or have played, a musical instrument are encouraged to join the band.
Those interested should contact Director John Russell, (703) 6369432, or assistant director Ed Richards, 636-6081, or attend one of the band’s weekly rehearsals. The band » rehearses at 7:30 p.m., every Tuesj day in the band room at Randolph* Macon Academy.
