Drama camp
at 4-H Center
The Northern Virginia 4-H educational center announces a new program for the summer.
Beginning Friday, July 7 and every Friday through Aug. 18, there will be a four hour creative drama day camp for children of all ages. This program is funded in part by the Virginia Commission for the Arts under the artist-in-education program. The center has been granted an artist in residence for the summer.
The series of classes will be an exercise in creating original drama through improvisational techniques. Family stories, folklore, mythe and legends will be the focus of classes involving movement, storytelling, F and theatre games. At the conclusion of the camp, a performance will be presented for parents and friends as well as the public.
The classes will be taught by Catherine Kiley of Rappahannock County. Ms. Kiley is a writer, dancer, and natural designer who has conducted similiar workshops and classes in other areas.
The classes will run from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. every Friday, with time out for swimming and lunch. A bag lunch should be brought by each participant. The fee for the seven week program is $50, and all classes will be held in the amphitheater on the grounds of the 4-H Center in Front Royal.
