The eighth annual CulpeperFest will be July 20 from 5-8 p.m. at the Culpeper Agricultural Enterprises on Rt. 29 South.
CulpeperFest is an area extravaganza featuring a bountiful picnic, lots of musical entertainment, interesting displays by local businesses and organizations, and prizes for lucky festival-goers.
“CulpeperFest is without a doubt a large and wonderful picnic! But, it is much more than that," said Loadmaster’s Tom Boyd, this year’s general coordinator. “It is a community social event that pulls many interests together. ’’
Tickets are available at local banks and the Culpeper Chamber of Commerce. In June adult tickets are $12. After July 1 adult tickets are $14. No tickets are sold after July 14 or at the gate.
“In 1988 attendance set a record at the CulpeperFest," said Mr. Boyd. “This year our goal is 1,500 people."
Beef, pork, and lamb barbeque lead the menu. Accompaniments are hot dogs, coleslaw, French fried potatoes, baked beans, and popcorn. Beverages are soft drinks and beer.
A grand prize will be awarded at the CulpeperFest, along with many smaller prizes at displays by local businesses. The grand prize is a four day trip for two to Daytona Beach sponsored by United Express Airlines, Holiday Inn and Comfort Inn.
Manned by volunteers from Culpeper Businesses and organizations, the CulpeperFest is the main fundraising event of the Chamber of Commerce. For more information, call 825-8628.
