Flea market at Castleton
Castleton Community Volunteer Fire Department will sponsor a flea market on Saturday, Aug. 26 at the Ben Venue Market, beginning at 9 a.m. Donations may be dropped off at the fire house or for further information or pickups call 937-5614 or 937-5292.
Support group meeting
A support group meeting for women with relationship problems will be held Wednesdays at 7 p.m. at Saint Stevens Church in Culpeper. For further information call 825-8876.
Chester Gap carnival
The Chester Gap Carnival began last night and will continue through Saturday, July 29. Friday, July 28, Jerry Williams and The Mystic Sound will be performing. Two shows are scheduled, one from 8-9 p.m. and the other from 10-11 p.m. On Saturday the 4th annual horseshoe pitch will begin at 12:30 p.m. and the crowning of the queen and the grand prize will take place Saturday night.
Class reunion
Tenth year high school reunion for the class of 1979 will be held Saturday, Aug. 12 at the Panorama Restaurant, Luray. The evening will begin at 7:30 with a social hour followed by a dinner and dance. All those planning on attending must RSVP as soon as possible. Business Council to meet
The Sperryville Business Council will meet on Thursday, Aug. 3 at 8 p.m. at Carriage House, home of Tom and Danielle Junk.' All members and interested persons are urged to attend.
Loan closet to award prizes
And didn’t it rain!?! The inclement weather on July Fourth prevented the Rappahannock Loan Closet from completing the day’s activities and aw arding the prizes which they were offering.
A special meeting of the group is scheduled for Saturday, July 29 at 2 p.m. at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Mank at Washington. At this time the drawing for a framed oil painting done by Eloise Coates of Amissville, dinner for two at the Corner Post Restaurant in Flint Hill, a deco art mantle clock donated by Country Manor in Sperryville, a ceramic up-and-dowm churn given by Sperryville Emporium, a $10.00 merchandise certificate from Mountainside Market in Washington, Va. will take place. Recipients will be notified and an annoucement will be made the following week in the newspaper.
