A new camping experience
I don’t think hiking 13 miles through rock covered, bug and gypsy moth infested trails is a relaxing way to spend a weekend - but it sure was fun! I got a chance to do some things that I never experienced before.
The 4-H Adventure Club and I climbed White Oak Canyon and Old Rag Mountain for two full days (although it seemed like five with the heat and strenuous climbing). We stopped and swam at a beautiful waterfall while on our way through White Oak Canyon. It seemed too good to be true when we finally hit the cold water!
We camped out in our tents on what they said was “flat land" but I don’t think waking up to find yourself and everyone else at the very bottom of the tent shows pitching on flat land. We even cooked and made hobo dinners and biscuits over the fire.
We also screened a stream to find out its quality with the "Save Our Streams” Program Survey. We found the quality to be fair.
