recent traffic count on Route 647 showed 349 vehicles in 18 hours, “and that report does not show the blind hill and curves on that road,” he added.
He said that a landfill at that site was not compatible with the “village concept. The village concept is crucial for the Comprehensive Plan to stand on its feet . . . We’re not protecting our natural resounces there. Why should we continue this? It’s like a charade we’re putting on. I can’t vote for it.
“I lived here when they were blasting in the quarry,” Dr. Krebser continued. “You’d see huge clouds of dust going up when the blasting was going on, and the village is much more dense than it was then. We ought to recommend to the Board of Supervisors denial based on the Comprehensive Plan and not put Mr. Frazier through all these expenses.”
Hampton District representative John Clark Jr. asked Mr. Frazier, “Are you willing to do these tests and come back at a later date?”
“As far as I’m concerned, we can drop the whole matter,” Mr. Frazier said. “I’d caution you people that somebody’s going to fill that hole one of these days. You should do it when you. can get something as clean as stumps, but if there is this much opposition, just forget it. ”
