our “positive attitudes” whenever a disgruntling situation would occur, and turn it about into an enjoyable moment (about the only things my tent residents’ positive attitudes would not remedy were the results of having slept with all one’s body weight on one’s forehead at the bottom two feet of the tent).

On to the hike. I had never hiked a Mountain before, and truthfully I had a great time with Old Rag Mountain. Getting to know all my camp-mates individually, and the sense of accomplishment one gets from maintaining a pace up the mountain until you reach the peak is unbeatable.

It might parallel winning a Most Valuable Player award in a sport at school, because when you have done it you know you have earned it, and you’ve done it on your own.

The whole hike and the stay at camp was made especially enjoyable because everyone was constantly in a good mood, and this kept our morale really going. There were no clans, no cliques, no society or monetary dividers, just good people who were encouraging on the trail and warm and friendly at the camp site.
