Friday evening when we set up our tents (I must say with a bit of difficulty for some of us) and then sat v around the campfire devouring hobo dinners and sharing conversation and songs.
Our group quickly became close after a game which left us with names like Pat Pizza and Susan Something.
The following day began exceptionally early (for me 6 a.m. just doesn’t do well for a day of good humor) but once the hike began the fun couldn’t have lasted long enough. We not only did Old Rag Mountain during our weekend expedition, but we also enjoyed the wonders of White Oak Canyon. We admired many beautiful sights and even had a chance to experience a natural water slide.
Thanks to Karen, our personal water guide, we met tiny creatures in the streams and learned ways to conserve and protect our own waterways.
Among the other highlights were adopting trees, making smores and learning of the many forms of destruction caused by the now wellknown gypsy moth.
Overall the trip was a collaboration of new sights, exciting experiences, and most importantly longlasting friendships.
