' ■ Rppahannock Legal Services, a United Way agency providing free representation in civil cases to lowincome residents of Culpeper, Rappahannock, Orange, Fauquier and Madison counties, has hired Monica J. Chernin as a staff attomery to specialize in legal services for the el; derly.
RLS was able to create the new position when state elderly funding earmarked for the provision of legal services to persons aged 60 or older became available on July 1. The hiring marks the first time in more than five years that RLS’s Culpeper office has been able to have two attor1 ' neys on staff, according to managing attorney Jamie B. Aliperti.
Ms. Chernin will be primarily responsible for all cases, case-related activites, and special projects in the * Culpeper office that invlove the el' derly. She plans to set up outreach services to the institutionalized and the homebound as well as to nutrition sites and other appropriate locations in the five-county service area.
