Farm Show sponsors mini-tractor

The Culpeper-Madison-Rappahannock Farm Show and the Culpeper Young Farmers will co-sponsor a lawn and garden tractor pull on Sunday, July 30, at 2 p.m. The pull will be held at the Culpeper Agricultural Enterprise on Route 29 south of Culpeper. Tractors in seven size classes will compete for prize money and trophies. A gate entrance fee of $5 per person will be charged. Children under age 6 will be admitted free. SAFE offers support
Services to Abused Families Inc. (SAFE) offers support groups for men and women with relationship problems. The women’s group meets each Wednesday at 7 p.m. at St. Stephens Church in Culpeper; the men’s group meets each Monday evening at 6:30 p.m. in Warrenton. Film, talk on folk art
On Friday, July 28 at 8 p.m., Middle Street Gallery will present a film from the Virginia Museum and a talk by John Dobrieky in conjunction with its current show, “American Primitive.” The movie, entitled “Possom Trot: the Life and Times of Calvin Black,” will be shown at the Gay Street Theater, co-sponsored by RAAC. Calvin Black and his wife Ruby created 80 wooden life-sized dolls at their Mohave Desert home, including “Evonne,” which is on exhibit at the Gallery. Following the movie, Mr. Dobrieky will speak at the Gallery about his collection of work by American folk artists. A $2 donation is requested. “American Primitive” will be on display through August 6th. Accompanying the show is contemporary work by gallery artists and guests in the spirit of folk art, including Rex Slack, Linda Ramer, Janet Kerig, Maggi Morris, Laurie Marshall, Lynnette Nicholas, Nina Moore and Arnold Holeywell. Gallery hours are Friday through Sunday, 11 to 6.
Dodson family reunion
The reunion of the families of the late Ernest and Neva Nicholson
Dodson will be held on Sunday, August 6 at Rappahannock Park, Rt 211 near Washington. Family members and friends are invited to attend, and bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the day. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m.
