July rainfall through Wednesday
morning totaled 7.60 inches, according to the official weather gauge in Washington, Va. This is the most rainfall for that month since 1959 at which time there was 7.25 inches. In 1956 July rainfall totaled 12.15 inches. According to the Highway Department, no serious road damage has been done by the severe storms; only a few small washouts have occurred.
C.J. Miller, Jr. of Washington was elected president of Rappahannock National Bank Tuesday at a meeting of the directors. He has been associated with this bank since 1925, was executive vice president and has served as cashier for the past 14 years. He fills the vacancy left by the recent death of Robert W. Miller of Woodville. Thomas Williams of Flint Hill was named vice president and George Miller of Woodville was named to the board of directors at Tuesday’s called meeting.
