Kevin Racer, Madison County’s gypsy moth coordinator, talked to us about the life cycle of the destructive moth and its impact on the forest ecology of the Appalachian area.
During the weekend we took two hikes, one up and down White Oak Canyon and the other up and down Old Rag Mountain. Particpants from King George County were Cathy Delong, Cathy Coats, Paula Van Alstine and Extension Agent Mary McFerren. Madison County wras represented by Ryan Lillard and Extension Agent Brad Jarvis, along with Mr. Racer.
From Caroline County the group included Susan Kil, Edith West and Steve Hopkins, Extension agent.
And from nearer to home, Rappahannock County participated with the largest contingent, including Holly Moffett, Alex Smith, Alice Reeve, Tim Mahoney, Greg Williams, Melissa Pagano, Justin Ferfence, Janice Moffett and Extension j\gent Tommy Williams.
The Extension Office extends special thanks to Mrs. Moffett for supplying pillows, to Janet Smoot for lending her tent, to Marsha Thompson for the use of her stove £nd to the Sheriffs Department for the loan of its van, which made transportation much easier.
And finally, the Extension Office would like to remind Justin Ferrence, Tim Mahoney and Alex Smith that it is not nice to hide the Extension Agent’s canteen.
