Apply now for land use
The office of the Commissioner of the Revenue is now accepting applications from landowners who wish to place their acreage in the county's land use program ’'for the 1990 tax year, Commissioner Beverly Atkins announced this week. Those —now-in the program should have received their renewal forms in the mail, which must be signed and returned to the commissioner's office. Anyone who wishes more information about the program, or who has not received a renewal form, should contact Ms. Atkins at her office (675-3513). The office isopen 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Marshall on art committee
Seventh District Congressman D. French Slaughter jr. announced that Rappahannock County artist Laurie Marshall will serve on the advisory committee of his Seventh District Congressional Art Competition. The annual event, held since 1985, gives high school students in the district an opportunity to ; show their works in a gallery setting. The winners are also displayed at the Capitol in Washington, D.C. The theme of this year's show is "The Expression of Texture." ; Deadline for entries is Feb. 13,1990.
Soccer registration
The Rappahannock Soccer League will hold registration for its fall season at the Rappahannock County Elementary v School on Thursday, Aug. 31 from 1:30-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. The league is for children in grades kindergarten through eighth.
