1 he principal said parents can make the trip safer by providing small and easily carried book packs, lunch boxes that are closed securely and no loose papers. “Nothing that could fall, causing the child to bend forward, should be given to a child,” he said, adding that the teachers and administration instruct the children to let whatever falls go until the driver instructs them to retrieve it.
Parents should make themselves and their children familiar with the bus number, the bus driver's name and the stop before the first day of school to help children get on the right bus later in the year.
Mr. Chesshir said kindergarten children are tagged with bus numbers which they wear the first few' weeks of school in order to help them with bus loading and unloading.
