Correction
In Lou Hatter’s column about Avtex in the Aug. 17 issue of the Rappahannock S'eus, it was stated that, according to Chemical Week magazine, the company’s gross revenues last year were approximately $350 million. That figure was actually for 1984. Also in that article, sulfur dioxide was identified as the primary emission from the plant’s smokestacks. Actually, 97 percent of the emissions are carbon disulfide, which causes the characteristic odor.
