What youngsters eat after school is usually whatever is available, Ms. Barton said. If you want youngsters to have fruit and vegetables, have that ready in the refrigerator instead of candy and soft drinks.
“Youngsters want snacks that are easy to fix. If there is a plastic bag with veggies ready to eat, they probably will eat them. If they have to scrape the carrot or clean the celery, they may seek something easier,” the nutritionist said.
