RICHMOND — The Virginia State Police cautioned Virginia motorists to drive with CARE during the Labor Day weekend, which officially begins at 6 p.m., Friday, Sept. I and continues through midnight, Monday, Sept. 4.
CARE is an acronym for Combined Accident Reduction Effort, a state-sponsored national program during the major holiday weekends of Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, and Thanksgiving. The Virginia State Police will be particpating in Operation CARE for the 12th consecutive year and will deploy all available troopers to patrol heavilytraveled highways such as interstates and primary roads.
