had to be read in five categories to spell the word BEARS. “S” was a non-fiction category. Most children ignore that section of the library unless there is a report due. The library staff was very pleased with the number of children that tried non-fiction books and discovered that they enjoyed reading them.
Most of the children spelled BEARS once. But, showing their willingness to honestly give non-fiction books a try, Sonya Anderson spelled BEARS four times and Amanda Brown spelled BEARS three times to win first and second.
Most of the success of this program was due to the efforts of the volunteers. The Rappahannock County Library staff would like to thank Enc and Nina Stamer, Gary and Terry Genther, Donna Kevis, Lois Neufeld, Barbara Caillagh, and Donna Skill for the time and effort they put into making these programs such a success.
