One of the many pleasures of summer is the availability of melons. It is often fun to stop and watch people as they try to select a watermelon.
Picking a watermelon has to do more with sciences or art than luck the experts say. H.R. Lawson, secretary treaurer of the National Watermelon Association says, “The belly tends to take on a slightly yellow color as the melon ripens. A thump with a dull sound would indicate it’s ripe — greener melons have a louder sound,but just about everybody has their own way of picking."
