The controversial property received considerable attention during the Wilder’s 1985 race for lieutenant governor against Sen. John H. Chichester (R28th District) when the GOP campaign suggested that Wilder owned “slum property.”
Wilder blamed the omissions on H. Louis Salomonsky of HLS Associates Trust who Wilder has authorized to manage some of his investments. Salomonsky, a Richmond architect, is a close personal friend as well as a long-time Wilder political ally.
The Coleman campaign has alleged that the Louisa County property was deeded to Voider in payment for his legal representation of Curtis Darnell Poindexter. Wilder defended Poindexter in a 1976 murder trial. Poindexter was eventually found guilty of murdering a Louisa County Circuit Court judge in his courtroom and was sentenced to life in prison.
In a letter to Attorney General Mary Sue Terry written on Aug. 18, Del. Frank D. Hargrove (R-55th District) requested that Terry investigate Wilder to
