"A KNOW SO SALVATION"
I John 5:10,13
My dear friend, do you know that you are going to heaven? The word of God teaches that we can know when we are saved. The words know and knoweth appear many times in the Epistle of I John.
There are several reasons why many people don't know that they are saved.
Some are seeking through works. Works will not save us. Ephesians 2:8,9 says, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God: not of works, least any man should boast"
The law will not save. Romans 3:20 says, "Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight for by the law is the knowledge of sin." So then, the law which is the word of God shows us that we are sinners in God's sight The Holy Spirit convicts us of sin through the preaching of the Word. Then we see the need to be saved and by faith receive Jesus as our personal savior. Acts 4:12 says, "neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”
Many people are trusting baptism and church membership to get them to heaven, but Jesus is the only way. (John 3:3-5)
A lot of folks try to ignore the sin question, but Romans 3:23 says, "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." Jesus says in Luke 13:3, "but except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish."
Many people believe assurance is not to be had in this life. Jesus says in John 5:24, "Verily, Verily, I say unto you. He that heareth my word, and believcth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not some into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life." You can know that you are saved, if you have truly from the heart repented of sin and asked the Lord to forgive you of your sin and save you.
If some one moved into your home with you, you will know it, and so will you know when He the Holy Spirit comes into your life. We can know by the witness of the spirit. (I John 5:10) "The spirit of God assures us that we are the children of God." (Rom. 8:16) The Word of God teaches that we know it in many scriptures. Read John 1:12; 3:16; 3:36; Rom. 10:13.1 John 5:13 says, "These things have written unto you that believe on the name of the Son Of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life; and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God."
There also will be a love for the brethren. In I John 3:14, "We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death."
There comes a transformation of life and desires. The new life in Christ replaces the old life. Paul says in n Cor. 5:17, "Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
Dear friend, do you know you are going to heaven? If not, do what the Bible says to do. Recognize your condition as a lost person. Repent of sin and believe the Word of God from the heart and call upon the Lord and He will save you. (Romans 10:13) Then be baptized and unite with a gospel preaching church.
