The good news for Wilder is that, despite a shaky start, despite a number of tactical errors in his campaign, he is just six points behind in a poll with a three point plus or minus error margin. And there are also a substantial number of undecided voters waiting to be persuaded.
The poll will demonstrate to Wilder and his key advisors that the game is far from over and that if the campaign can be put on an even keel, victory will still be possible. Many observers think the Wilder organization is finally starting to jell and the campaign getting on track.
Best of all, since six points is far from a commanding lead, the poll shouldn’t damage Wilder’s ability to attract contributions and shouldn’t excessively discourage the Democratic rank and file working for him in the trenches.
