“Similarly, if it was owner-occupied and if you sell it within a certain number of years, the money would have to be repaid.” He explained that when the money was repaid, it could be used to rehabilitate another house. “The purpose of this program is to keep people in their homes,” he said.
The supervisors also learned that the State Compensation Board has agreed to increase the Sheriffs Department budget by $11,000 for part time help. This will mean that the sheriff will be able to hire a cook, once the kitchen addition to the jail has been completed, and a part-time process server, Mr. McCarthy explained.
The supervisors also voted for a resolution in support of the jail addition. That action was required in order for the county to receive reimbursement from the state for half the cost of the addition. Hie res| olution specified that the cost would not be over $200,000.
In other action at Monday’s monthly meeting, the Board of Supervisors:
• approved additional appropriations for the schools to use extra monies received from the Federal and state governments, to use monies collected for textbook rental, to use money from the auction of surplus goods, and a check from Potomac Edison to reimburse the system for damages due to a power surge to pay for refinishing the new gym floor.
• learned that the construction trailer has been installed at the landfill for an office.
