Country stores can be considered the mainstay of Rappahannock.
Besides providing a local gathering spot, community merchants provide a variety of consumer goods from livestock feed to white bread and butter.
But there is change afoot in these establishments which often are jrelt ics of a time long past.
Besides white bread and butter, customers are discovering Bambi, Rambo and Batman. Video rentals are stacking up on country store shelves right next to the homemade fudge and Virginia peanuts.
