Potomac Edison offers special payment schedules for customers who may have difficulty paying their electric bills because of higher energy usage during December’s record cold weather.

“We want customers to call us if they’re having trouble paying their electric bills,” said Southern Division Manager Bill Cowden of the company’s Winchester office. “Then, we’ll work with them to set up a special payment schedule. They may be interested in signing up for our average payment plan.”

With the average payment plan, customers pay about the same amount each billing period, so that high and low bills are averaged across the year. The plan also helps customers budget for their energy expenses, Mr. Cowden said.

Customers may want to call Potomac Edison’s toll-free number (800) 664-3317 to talk about a special payment schedule or to request booklets about insulation, energy-efficient appliances and other methods for saving energy during the winter
