Payment rates for acreage devoted to conserving uses under the optional 0/92 acreage diversion program will not be less than the rates after adjustment of 1.4 percent due to the Budget and Emergency Control Act of 1985.

The 1990 acreage reduction requirements are five percent for wheat and oats, and 10 percent for com, sorghum and barley.

Limited cross compliance requirements are in effect for all 1990 program crops except oats. Limited cross compliance means that if a producer participates in the program for one crop on a farm, the producer will be prohibited from planting in excess of the crop acreage base for each other program crop on the farm.

The 1990 farm program sign-up will end April 13. Further clarification and additional program provisions may be obtained from the Rappahannock County ASCS office, located on Gay St. in Washington, or by calling the office, (703) 675-3616.
