Brenda Mills saw the photograph of the dog in last week’s newspaper. “Honey, that looks like Red,” she remembers telling her husband. Their Irish setter had disappeared six months earlier from a swimming hole near their house In Sperryville. “He’d go down there every day, and usually he’d be back in 20 minutes. When he didn’t come home, we looked all over for him, called our neighbors and called the dog warden, but no one had seen him,” Mrs. Mills reported in a telephone interview this week.
On the off chance that the dog in the photograph might be their missing Red, Mr. Mills drove to the house of the RAWL volunteer who was keeping the setter. “My husband thinks he recognized the truck right off because he started barking and he jumped right into the back. We were shocked. We never thought we’d ever see him again.”
