Visual arts at Middle St.
Middle Street Gallery is planning a quarterly visual arts program beginning in March. The Gallery is • ecepting requests from the community for classes, films, lectures ar 1 discussions of interest in the visual arts; and a call for instructors, lecturers or discussion guides. Dancing at Blackwater Creek
Folk, Contra and Square Dancing will be happening on the 2nd Thursday of each month, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. The next dance will be Thursday, Feb. 8. A nominal fee of $12 per person for the series of 12 dances will be charged, to cover expenses for records and equipment, payable at the next dance. No specific background in dancing is required; instruction will be provided for each of the dances. The only requirments are two feet and a light heart. Basketry at Middle St.
The following art classes with Cathy Dancing Reed will be held at Middle Street Gallery in Washington. “The Art of the Vine” is scheduled Feb. 16 and 23 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This is a basketry class for women; the cost is $45 per student (bring a lunch). “Art from Nature for Young People” will be held Mondays after school from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Feb. 19 and 26. It will teach basketry craft and creative use of natural objects. The cost is $25 per student. All materials for these classes will be provided by the artist. Life drawing workshop
The Middle Street Gallery Artists’ Cooperative has resumed its Life Drawing Workshop on Thursday evenings, from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. This is an open workshop with no instructor, but a model provided. Bring your own art supplies. Fee is $10. For additional information call 675-3440.
