In last week’s story and editorial about the county’s negotiations with Adelphia Cable Communications Inc. to serve the county with cable television, no mention was made of County Administrator John McCarthy’s alternative to waiting until the Congress acts on re-regulation of the industry. Mr. McCarthy suggested that, if the parties wish to proceed with a contract, a clause could be included which would ensure that any regulatory authority granted to localities in the future would apply retroactively to the county’s franchise with Adelphia.
