Fall leaf watch
Trees in Virginia's Piedmont have just begun to show their fall colors. Most of the mountains are still green, with isolated pockets of yellow poplars and scarlet maples. Peak colors will probably not show until the third week in October, although weather conditions could speed up or slow down the process.
