Sunday afternoon car show winners were presented by Amissville Volunteer Fire Department President David Sheffield. The People’s Choice Award was given to Richard Compton of Amissville, Dr. Arthur Gower of Manassas was given the award for the oldest car and the award * for the longest distances traveled was given to Thomas Pyne of Lignum.
“The award plaques were designed , by Amissville resident Richard Pierson,” „ Mrs. Smith said, adding they were crafted by Award Crafters of Fairfax and donated to the fire department, free of charge.
Various other items - such as Appenglow beverages, hand-painted goose egg decorations, and other items - were given away.
“We wanted to use everything we could,” Mrs. Smith said of the items given away. “This is something that we can build on each year,” she added, making the event larger and more varied as community involvement grows.
