No matter how much we try to ignore it or close our eyes to it, the fact is that the people have lost faith in their government’s ability to govern and, worse, in their own ability to do anything about it.
This November, in what is called an ‘off-year’ election, as few as 35 percent of the eligible voters will actually vote. Dozens of races for the House of Representatives, designed by the Framers of the Constitution to be the primary voice of the people, will go un-contested. The prestigious position of Senator from the State of Virginia will go un-challenged.
