Family apartment
rules may change

The Board of Zoning Appeals granted George and Marlina Lee’s request for a special use permit to construct a family apartment for Mr. Lee’s mother on their property in the Castleton area.
The Lees intend to construct the apartment and a garage in a separate building on their five acre property. The apartment will be 800 square feet and built as a second story over an 800 square foot garage.
The building will share a driveway with the Lees’ current house and will share the well, but will have a separate septic tank and drainfield and will be located approximately 300 feet away from the main house.
Frank Reynolds, representing Deborah Amos, who owns land across the road from the Lees, objected that the proposed construction constituted a separate dwelling rather than a family apartment.
Ms Amos is in Saudi Arabia broadcasting for National Public Radio. Her parents attended the BZA hearing.
