Amissville witnessed its first festival over the weekend to celebrate its 180th birthday; hopefully it will become an annual event. An estimated 2500 attended. The highlight on Saturday was the attendance of elected representatives. Congressman Slaughter presented the awards for winners of the AntiqueClassic car show on Saturday. “Peoples Choice” went to Bobby Lewis of Rixeyville for his 1955 Chevrolet. “Oldest” to Ken Roberts of Aroda for his 1938 Chevrolet and “Longest Distance Traveled” to Ken Roberts of Aroda.
On Sunday, Amissville Volunteer Fire Company president David Sheffield presented award of “Peoples Choice” to Richard Compton of Amissville for his red 1957 2-door hardtop Chevrolet w/continental. “Oldest” award went to Dr. Arthur Gower of Manassas for his 1930
