State budget cuts
will force counties
to pay larger share

Built-in needs of the school system combined with cut backs in state aid could increase the county cost for schools up to $200,000 for the next budget year, without including any raises or increase in program or services. School Superintendent David Gangel told the Board ol Supervisors Monday. !
Dr. Gangel told the supervisors he would try to get some of those things taken care of under the current budget to “lighten the impact” next year.
This will be possible because the county should actually show an increase in local aid this year because of increased enrollment. |
The budget was prepared based on an average daily membership of 904, Dr. Gangel said, while the enrollment is actually 950. ! !
Dr. Gangel estimated that ADM in March, which ik the date the state actually uses in computing local aid, will be 934.
One of the increases Dr. Gangel mentioned will be needed is replacing the underground fuel oil storage tank at the elementary school. He estimated that this mjjght cost $50,000. He predicted an increase in the cost of fuels of $6,000. Another $50,000 to $60,000 will be needed for
