Another thing has to be done: every pet should wear an identification tag. Dog Warden Ray Pullen advises the owners to add their Social Security number. (Dogs which bear a tattoo are identified by their owner’s Social Security number.) It is better than a telephone number because it never changes.
With this number, through a computer, the pet can be returned in no time. As the maximum stay in the pound is five days, after which the animal is put down, time is of the essence!
When the county’s new animal shelter is open, we will make sure everyone knows all there is to know about it, and in what way residents can help.
We should remember that companion animals are here because we have let them be here. Our responsibility cannot be evaded and we should always protect them from neglect and cruelty.
