Culinary Hearts course
The Extension Service will sponsor a Culinary Hearts cooking course, developed by the American Heart Association, beginning Thursday, Oct. 11. The course, which teaches basic principles of nutrition, food selection and preparation, ways to modify favorite recipes and how to plan heart-healthy menus at home, when dining out and when entertaining. The classes will meet from 10 a.m. to noon each Thursday through Nov. 1 at the Extension Office. The registration fee is $15, for more information contact Home Extension Agent Helen Smith (675-3619).
Benefit plant sale
The Rappahannock Association for the Arts and the Community will sponsor a "Primarily Perennial Plant Sale" at the Apple Harvest Festival in Sperryville this weekend. It will feature divisions of plants from some of the county's finest gardens. Anyone willing to share their plants for this sale, which will benefit RAAC, should ; contact Donna Brune (675-3183) or Eileen Day (675-3033).
'Mountains of the Moon'
The feature attraction at the Gay Street '■ Theatre this weekend will be "Mountains of the Moon," Bob Rafelson's fictionalized depiction of the real-life search for the mouth of the Nile River by British explorers. It stars Sir Richard Burton and John Speke. Showtime Saturday and Sunday evening is 7:30.
