Mr. Massie wondered if the county could get involved in taking on such a debt. “You’d be borrowing money from the telephone company,” he said.
Mr. Luke said the supervisors “can do some things in anticipation of revenue, but I don’t know if it covers that.”
“I don’t like the idea of borrowing the money,” Mr. Massie said.
Mr. Anderson asked who is going to name all the roads. All the county roads have to have names for the “E911” system, and every house in the county will be assigned a street number.
Mr. McCarthy said the fire departments would take on the job of naming the roads in their service areas and bring their recommendations to the Planning Commission.
Mr. Anderson suggested that the committees get some of the older native people to participate so they will know of the traditional names for the roads.
