Easter bake sale
The Child Care and Learning Center will be holding an Easter bake sale from 7:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27. Proceeds will benefit the music and after-school summer programs. “Stop by and pick up a treat to share!” said a spokesperson.
Lions benefit auction
The Rappahannock Lions Club is again planning for their annual benefit auction to be held at the Washington fire hall at 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 11. Proceeds from this auction are used to support local needs of the community such as sight and hearing screening, youth athletics, senior citizens, scholarships, drug awareness and other projects. The club is accepting donations of new, renewed or serviceable items that you no longer have need for. Cash contributions are also gratefully accepted. Food and clothing however are not acceptable. Prayer luncheon
The Women’s Auxiliary of the Way land Blue Ridge Baptist Association will hold its Thirteenth Annual Prayer Luncheon at the Holiday Inn, Culpeper at noon on Wednesday, April 3. Donation is $15.
Beauty pageant planned
The annual beauty pageant sponsored by the Sperryville Rescue Squad will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 6 at Rappahannock High School. All-you-can-eat breakfast
Have breakfast with the Easter Bunny, 7 a.m.-11 a.m. on Saturday, March 30 at the Washington Fire Department. The cost is $3 for children and $5 for adults. '

'Avalon' at Theater
The feature attraction this weekend at the Gay Street Theater will be “Avalon” at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 24. An amusing aqd emest passage through Independence days, turkey slicings, business openings, moves to the suburbs, family meetings and bickerings. All seen through the eyes of a boy who discovers that combination of mystery, frustration and banality referred to as growing up. The movie is rated PG.
RAAC presents gospel concert
RAAC is sponsoring a gospel concert to be held at the historic Washington Baptist Church in Washington at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 24 The concert will feature The Brothers, a nationally recognized Southern Gospel group and The Voices of Inspiration from Flint Hill.
