The work on the first section will continue the four-laning from where it ends just west of Washington to the Covington River bridge.
Mr. Moore said he expects the work on the second section, from the Covington River to just east of Sperryville, to also begin this summer.
Originally the highway department had expected work on the first section to be nearly completed before work on the second section began, but “the first project was slowed enough so the second caught up,” Mr. Moore said. “It looks like they will pretty much be going on simultaneously.”
He said he expects the entire project to be completed sometime in the spring or summer of 1992.
