Seaman Julian Groves of Washington.
A 1990 graduate of Rappahannock County High School remembered for his basketball skills, he was taken right from boot camp to the gulf region.
“Thank God he was on his way when the cease-fire was announced,” his father, Julian Groves, said. “He left March 6 and is stationed on the USS San Francisco.”
The young sailor joined the Navy in November. “We talked with him about it for awhile,” his father said, adding the young seaman “felt it was his duty and when the time came he packed his things and went. ”
Today, he could be on his first tour of duty in the Red Sea.
“We miss him a great deal,” his father said, adding the family feels only relief the cease-fife was announced before his tour.
“He may be home in a week or six weeks,” the father said, adding
