The girls are very responsive, she said. “They have lots of questions.” Sometimes they sit around a table to have the lessons. “It’s less formal than a classroom,” she noted.
Mr. Leake said the boys were responsive also. “About three days before the class starts they get the maturity speech,” he said. “Each year the kids seem more mature, more prepared.”

Much of the material in the curriculum is normally covered in tenth grade biology. Patty Waddell said that she hasn’t changed much of what she teaches, but the new curriculum puts “more stress on values.”
