Rob McDugald at Woodsmoke
Appearing this Friday at The Woodsmoke Cafe in Sperryvilie will be Rob McDugald, solo guitarist and singer. A native of D.C., a rare breed indeed, he has spent the last 10 months living in the Culpeper area on the Hazel River, as he puts it: "reducing stress from my life and developing new ideas."
"I just had to get out of that town," he said of D.C.
Having grown up in the '60s and early '70s, his music is a blend of country, folk and period sound. "My grandmother was a opera singer until she was 70 years old, and I'll always remember her singing the scales as I practiced them on the piano as a small boy and was lucky enough to have inherited her singing and listening ability."
Mr. McDugald has been entertaining folks at The Caprice Cafe in Warrenton on a weekly basis, as well as in Charlottesville and Middleburg.
