Medieval feast

WAKEFIELD SCHOOL held its annual Medieval banquet last week, celebrating the winter festival of Candlemas and providing students with a lesson in Medieval history. In addition to the banquet and costume contests, the evening was filled with numerous games and activities that were characteristic of the period. By far the favorite event of the evening was the pancake races. Students competed according to grade level and the subject was to run the course while balancing a pancake on a spoon, no thumbs allowed to hold the pancake. Clockwise from left: Melissa Yowell of Amissville’s face was painted, Levi Campbell of Bentonville won best costume and Rusty Vicars of Warrenton heralded the event. '
