Hospice is not a place but a system of care providing physical and psychological comfort for dying people and their families. Hospice care differs from traditional hospital care in that emphasis is on making the patient as comfortable and content as possible, not on attempting a cure. Hospice care usually takes place in the patient’s home.
In hospice care, emphasis is on practical, emotional, and spiritual support for patients and families. Hospice workers are experienced in giving comfort to people with lifethreatening illnesses. Hospice people are there to assist not to take over. A patient’s relative or friend
