has the responsibility of day to day care.

In contrast to traditional hospital or medical care, the basic treatment unit in hospice is not the individual patient but the entire family unit. What affects one affects the other. The caregivers need help, too. There are tremendous physical and emotional stresses involved in caring for a loved one at home.

Hospice of the Rapidan, a Piedmont United Way agency, continues to care for survivors following the death. Working Through Grief is a support group open to hospice families- and others who have suffered a loss.

The grieving process may take months or years to complete and is unique for each individual.

Working Through Grief classes will be held for eight consecutive Thursday evenings beginning April 4 at the Madison United Methodist Church. The sessions are free and require pre-registration. To request hospice care or to register for Working Through Grief, call Hospice of the Rapidan at 825-4840.
